Facebook back again!

That was pretty darn quick. Facebook must really have some smart ass developers to fix their stuff up. That or, Zuckerberg tripped on something.

Either way… now I can update my status that Facebook is up. Which I won’t do by the way.

How do I update my Facebook status that Facebook is down?

This is a temporary thing. 100% it will be back up.

You might have realized by now that Facebook is down. Just by going on to their website, you’ll get an error. So, what’s the first thing that popped in my head when any cataclysmic event aroud my life has occurred? Update my Facebook status. In this case, the same happened, then I realized… Crap! I CAN”T!

What do we do now? I don’t know. From the Down Right Now website  http://downrightnow.com/facebook (it indicates that the service has been disrupted. What does it mean? No clue. Is it a bug? Is it maintenance? Who knows.

We can even go as far as the conspiracy route “Zuckerberg donates $100 million to Newark public schools from money by selling Facebook.”

Whoah whoah whoah…. what? He’s donating $100 million to Newark public schools? I sometimes think he’s the devil and Facebook is pure evil, but that just makes up for it all. That’s alot of cash baby.

Rest assured though, your trusty and favorite social media network will be back online in no time. So don’t panic. All those animals in Farmville won’t die of starvation, and no one’s Mafia will assassinate you in the meantime. So sit back, hang tight, and do something more productive for a change.

BP Will Be The Future Leader In Offshore Drilling

BP - The future of offshore drilling?

As of today, it’s known that the Gulf of Mexico oil spill caused by the offshore drilling by BP is one of the worst of it’s kind to date, or the worst of it’s kind that has been reported as widely to the public. It has affected the environment on land and water, and thousands of people who have been severely affected economically. Fishermen, hotels, resorts, business owners, and home owners have all suffered from this. BP has launched a large coordinated response effort to respond to this crisis on multiple levels.

BP is in the spot light and they’re an easy target for anyone that wants to take a stab at big oil companies and their practices.

There’s another side in my opinion that may be overlooked. BP has the opportunity to be the future leader in offshore drilling. This is how I believe they’ll become that…

Inception – A Review and Spoilers (We explain what the ending means)

Inception Poster

Inception Poster - Watch this movie

SPOILER ALERT!If you plan on watching Inception, I wouldn’t read any further because this might ruin a piece for you.

Last night, Inception came out. Directed by Christopher Nolan (from Batman), and includes a cast of some pretty awesome characters (click here for a full list at IMDB).

It’s a movie that has a great idea, great directing, and great acting. The idea of inception is pretty simple; people (Leonardo Di Caprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt) go into other people’s dreams to steal important information. Things get complicated when they have to do a job that is impossible. Things start to get confusing, convoluted, and complicated for the characters in the movie, and for the movie goers, it can feel that you’re almost overwhelmed by it at some points, but Director Christopher Nolan does a great job in translating all this craziness on the screen that with the exception of some minor points, you’re pretty much on track with what’s going and not asking yourself (or the people around) “What the hell is going on?!?”.

These are some things I loved about the movie:

Google TV – A new way of thinking about TV entertainment

Google TV

A replacement for cable? Time will tell

Google being a powerhouse in the IT industry is always looking to extend it’s reach in many areas (communication, advertisement, social networking, gaming, etc…). Some have succeeded like search, email, advertising, and others not so much like Google Wave (depending on who you talk to).  One area that they’re now tapping into is TV. In May, Google announced one of their latest innovations called Google TV. (Click here to view announcement)

Simply put, it’s TV from the internet. In Fall 2010, Google is going to launch Google TV in collaboration with companies like Sony, Logitech, Intel, and the Dish Network. They want to change the way people think about TV. Instead of looking at programs that are scheduled at certain times defined by networks, Google wants users to be able to search/browse through their TVs for programs that they wish to watch.

This is done through one of two ways:

Soccer World Cup Lessons Learned

Thank you for the good times World Cup 2010

The soccer world cup is over. After over a month of matches, the conclusion was a 1-0 victory for Spain over the Netherlands in a long, painful and draining match for both sides. Congratulations to the Spanish team for their victory.

Now that it’s over, there are many lessons learned from the world cup this year, and I’d like to share a few with you that I’ve learned throughout….

  1. The officiating was terrible: Or so say the losing teams. There were so many bad calls and so many mistakes by the referees that it potentially have caused teams to lose. One thing is certain though, the refs don’t take shit from any player. You mess with them and your ass is out. How many yellow cards did Netherlands get in the final match? Too many that I stopped counting at one point.
  2. Vuvuzelas are annoying as hell: This world cup was void of chants, country pride, and cheers. Why? Vuvulelas drowned everything out. I hope that the next World Cup is void of this so we can go back to regular chanting, bad mouthing, and screaming at the players on the field.

Apple iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter Review

iPad VGA adapter

This is what it looks like hooked to your iPad

Having moved recently into my new place, a decision was made not to get cable TV. I’d hardly watched any programs anymore, and most of the shows that I do watch is available to me online the next day.

One thing I didn’t get rid of is the internet. In this case,  I own an iPad and I like using it alot and in many ways it has replaced my laptop when it comes to quick browsing. When I need more heavy lifting, like Photoshop, application development, or whatever, I stick with my trusty laptop, but when I’m on the couch laying lazily, the iPad is perfect.

I watch videos on it all the time, particularly Youtube, Netflix, and ABC’s application with their shows in it. Since I have no cable anymore I thought it’d be a great idea to buy the Apple iPad Dock connector to VGA adapter, which I can use to hook the iPad into my 47inch Vizio TV. I used to do this with my laptop and loved it, so why not use the iPad? It’s easier to use, cooler on my coffee table, and it’s not as clunky and clumsy as my laptop when I haul it around.

I was so excited buying the connector for $29. An amazing price for something that I can do so much with. But I was so disappointed when I got home. Here are the reasons why:

I Hate Moving

The other week, I was in the process of moving from apartment to another one. Granted, this wasn’t my first move. I’ve done many painful and exhausting moves in the past and I’ve learned the hard way that no matter what, you’ll still be hurting in the end. I wanted to give you some tips that I’ve learned across the years and hopefully this will help you in your next challenging move. These tips are to help you save money, energy, time, and stress.

  1. Boxes: Get used boxes to save money. Don’t buy the new ones at the truck rental place. It’s a waste of money. You can easilly find boxes at teh back of a Target, supermarket, 7-11 in your neighborhood. They’re free, and the people will always be glad to give it to you.
  2. PACK PACK AND PACK!!! This is the toughest. Don’t leave anything unpacked. That sidelamp that you’ll take last minute? PACK IT! Your clothes? PACK THEM! The little porcelain statue of a cow on your coffee table. PACK IT!!! Why? because you won’t have time to do this last minute. You’ll be so busy occupied with the big stuff, that all the little stuff gets neglected, and then you end up with all this junk lying around that you didn’t know existed and didn’t know what to do with it last minute.
